Sensex Down 4.07 percent on Weak Global Cues

Indian markets plunged 4 percent on huge selling pressure triggered by sharp fall in Chinese and other Asian markets.Sensex tumbled over four percent down 626 points to ended at 14,784.92, after touching an intra-day low of 14,740.National Stock Exchange’s Nifty ended 4.2 percent down 192.25 points to ended at 4387.80 after touching an intra-day low of 4374.60.FII's were net sellers of equities worth Rs 1,226.49 crore while domestic institutions were net buyers of equities worth Rs 460 crore.Selling pressure was also seen due to drought concerns.Market breadth of the market remained negative as 1929 stocks closed in red while 674 stocks closed in green and 73 stocks remained unchanged in BSE.
Some of the prominent losers were DLF down 7.75 percent,Hindalco down 7.35 percent,Sterlite down 6.69 percent,Tata Steel down 6.82 percent,JP Associates down 6.31 percent, Reliance Infra down 6.15 percent, Hero honda down 5.92 percent.Dollar gained versus domestic currency which opened at 48.55 and end at 48.95.It touched 49 during the day.Oil prices continued to fall sharply,Crude for September delivery was down $2.03 to $65.48 a barrel.
